easyJet accelerates in Croatia in 2017

  • Nearly 1 million seats available with an investment growing by over 23% in 2017
  • Seven new routes announced today taking the total count to 40
  • New network point opened at Zadar

easyJet, Europe’s leading airline, has today announced its expansion plan in the Croatian market for 2017. The new investment sees a considerable increase in capacity for next year, by over 23% versus last year, meaning nearly 1 million seats are available for passengers offering more choice to fly at affordable fares as well as bringing more tourists to the region.

easyJet has also unveiled seven new routes today, including a service to the new network point of Zadar, making it the fourth airport served by easyJet in the country after Split, Dubrovnik and the recently introduced Pula.

Croatian passengers will have more choice to fly at affordable fares from Dubrovnik to Belfast, Basel, Manchester and Naples, from Pula to Bristol and Berlin Schoenefeld and from Zadar to Milan Malpensa.

Flights are on sale at easyjet.com, on easyJet’s mobile app and GDS. From today easyJet offers 40 routes from across its Croatian airports to connect to six European countries.

Dimitris Schoinas, Senior Route Manager for easyJet said:

‘We are pleased to be announcing a significant investment in Croatia today making nearly 1 million seats available to and from Croatia in 2017. We launch today seven new routes and the brand new network point of Zadar. The new flights will offer more choice to European tourists to spend their holidays in the beautiful seaside resorts of Croatia as well as to Croatian passengers to connect to Europe.

‘I am sure the new flights to Zadar, where we expect to carry over 8’000 passengers in the first summer of operations, will soon prove popular with Italian holidaymakers that can now choose to travel at fantastic fares to one of the oldest Croatian cities as well as gateway to beautiful beaches, islands and the unique UNESCO World Heritage site of Plitvice Lakes National Park.’

Earlier this week easyJet celebrated the fifth anniversary of its industry-leading mobile app. Since launching in 2011, easyJet’s mobile app has been downloaded more than 19 million times with more than 20% of bookings now made via the app. The number of passengers using mobile boarding passes also increased more than 60% year-on-year thanks to the app’s intuitive design which makes it so easy to use.

About easyJet

easyJet is Europe’s leading airline offering a unique and winning combination of the best route network connecting Europe's primary airports, with great value fares and friendly service.

easyJet flies on more of Europe’s most popular routes than any other airline. easyJet carries 73 million passengers annually, of which around 20% are travelling on business. easyJet flies over 250 aircraft on more than 800 routes to over 130 airports across 31 countries. More than 300 million Europeans live within one hour's drive of an easyJet airport.

easyJet aims to be a good corporate citizen, employing people on local contracts in seven countries across Europe in full compliance with national laws and recognising their trade unions. The airline supports a number of local charities and also has a corporate partnership with UNICEF which has raised over £8m for the most vulnerable children since it was established in 2012.

The airline takes sustainability seriously. easyJet invests in the latest technology, operates efficiently and fills most of its seats which means that an easyJet passenger's carbon footprint is 22% less than a passenger on a traditional airline, flying the same aircraft on the same route.
